Journal 5: Designing Differentiated Class Activities
Creating differentiated activities helped me develop a more inclusive approach wherein all students have the opportunity to learn despite their different abilities. It made me realize that learners vary in pace, interest, and understanding, so lessons should be flexible. The most effective strategy I used was integrating familiar and relevant topics, as well as common games they enjoy, through gamification. This kept them engaged while still being challenged. This experience influenced my philosophy of equity by reminding me that I must be a responsible teacher who prioritizes both the growth and emotional safety of my learners—where they feel seen, valued, and that they truly belong.
